Community Spotlight: SafeHaven Humane Society

SafeHaven Humane Society is the largest animal rescue shelter in Linn County. They are a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Tangent, Oregon and specialize in finding homes, opening hearts and educating minds. Along with rescuing cats, dogs and other small animals, SafeHaven also offers Humane Education programs for kids; community outreach at schools, retirement communities and more; as well as the transportation of animals from other high-kill shelters around the country. In 2017, SafeHaven adopted out 2,556 animals. That’s 2,556 animals who found their forever homes because they were given at second chance at SafeHaven!

If you would like to support SafeHaven and the rescue of homeless and abused animals in Linn County, there are many ways to do so! You can volunteer, donate, foster animals or even attend one of their events throughout the year. There are so many ways to help the animals at SafeHaven and because of the community’s support, animals at SafeHaven are able to stay as long as they need, until they find that special someone to point and say “Yes, I want that one”.

Coming up, SafeHaven is hosting their annual ‘Rescue Roundup’ event to raise funds for the animals. This event is on September 29th at 5:30 PM at the Albany Boys and Girls Club. Tickets are $60 and include a fantastic BBQ dinner, drinks and both a live and silent auction with so many great items to choose from! This event is a fun way to get involved with SafeHaven and you won’t want to miss it. Purchase your tickets online or take a look at other ways to get involved at www.safehavenhumane.org. Rescue Roundup is sponsored by many local businesses, including Town & Country Realty. We look forward to seeing you there!
