Fish of Albany, Inc. is a non-profit agency located in Albany, OR offering seven service programs to assist individuals and families experiencing an emergency. These programs are the food pantry, Clothes Closet, Snacks for Packs, a guest house shelter, transportation solutions, Rx assistance, and crisis intervention.
The Clothes Closet was established in the 1970s to help families in need with clothing. It was originally housed in a small “closet” in a local school. It has evolved into a full-time operation contained in its very own building! The Clothes Closet is open to the public for shopping three days weekly and offers clothing, shoes, bedding & towels, small household goods, school supplies, car seats and bicycles. The Clothes Closet is a free service for their shoppers! Individuals and households can visit the Clothes Closet five times in a calendar year to meet their needs. Eligibility for Fish services is determined by evidence of address. The Clothes Closet partners with local schools to supply winter coats to students going without. Donations of new and gently-used jackets meet this need each fall/winter.
In addition to coats and regular Clothes Closet shopping visits for families with children, Fish offers a back-to-school backpack and school supplies program each August. Backpacks filled with school supplies are available to
Greater Albany Public Schools students K-12. All Clothes Closet programs and services are dependent on donations.
Donations of new and/or gently-used, clean items are accepted year-round at 1880 SE Hill Street, Albany.
