Brought to you by Jeff Cope of Home Grown Gardens
According to AARP, people who garden have significantly fewer health risks than those who don’t garden. Some of the listed health benefits include: exposure to Vitamin D, decreased dementia risk, mood boosting, enjoyable aerobic exercise and even help with the feeling of loneliness through social gardening outlets. I have been involved in
Horticulture for over 40 years. During that time, the most well balanced and healthy people I have known along the way have had a relationship with plants. I started when I was 12 years old learning about taking care of roses, lawns and fruit trees. The first gardening book I read was by Jerry Baker called Plants and Like People. I got the gardening bug.
Home Grown Gardens, a retail nursery in Corvallis Oregon is my most recent horticultural endeavor. I brought my wife and son into the business in 2007, and we have had a blast the last 12 years learning about Pacific Northwest plants, gardening and the wonderful gardeners in this community. The location of our nursery has a 60+ year history. Many of those years it was known as Corvallis Nursery, a seasonal nursery offering annual color to many in the community. Today Home Grown Gardens is open year round and offers annuals, hanging baskets, perennials, shrubs, trees, house plants, garden gifts, garden products and more. The 1.3 acres and multiple greenhouses at the nursery location offer our visitors a botanical experience that brings them back time and again. The frontage of the nursery gives a different impression than it does once inside – we are bigger than we look! We brag we have the best plants in town, and customers tell us that all the time. Visits to our nursery are an experience. If you have not discovered us yet, then what are you waiting for? We are open 7 days a week – weekday hours are 9am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday are 9am to 5pm.
If you have the gardening bug pay us a visit. If you do visit us and don’t have the gardening bug, you will soon.We are exactly 3 miles from downtown Corvallis at 4845 SE 3rd Street, on Highway 99. That makes us the closest independent retail nursery from the city center.
See you in the garden!
